A Nasty Little Quatrain

The avant-garde marched up a cul-de-sac,
And “Forward!” they keep shouting from the back.
They bang their knees and noses on the wall,
They’re just as fucked as Arthur was by Paul.

    1. I don’t get it.

    2. The image is now working. The quatrain is a wry comment on avant-garde poetry with a sly allusion to the relationship between Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine in what the latter refers to as ‘that city from the Bible’.
