All halal and kosher meat to be labelled with method of production and slaughter

“Silence is complicity”

.
This is such an important petition – and it really needs to go viral and get every bit of support that it can.

There is no such thing as ‘religious’ slaughter when God’s Commandment is very clear: “You shall not kill”. No killing can ever be truly either ‘kosher’ or ‘halal’ – e.g. right/acceptable in Divine eyes.

When so-called ‘religious’ slaughter also causes the poor animals who have to suffer it immense and prolonged pain, we really have to speak out. Young calves regularly take up to 20 minutes to die! And in absolute agony, having had no pre-stunning. They are fully conscious for most of that hellish journey. (And these are just babies to boot!)

Think of how much pain is caused by a paper cut – and just imagine how much agony is caused by a cut throat and bleeding very slowly and consciously (in absolute terror too, as we would all, faced with that terrible situation) – to death.

There are NO excuses. I would personally like to see all so-called ‘religious’ slaughter banned outright. And for that matter, as an animal loving, animal respecting vegan, all animal killing banned. (“One day,” as Robert Scholl yelled out, as his children Hans and Sophie were sentenced to death for resisting Hitler, “there will be another kind of Justice.”)

At the very least people need to KNOW when they are paying money to buy their meat and meat products (sandwiches, pizzas whatever) that they are actively choosing ‘kosher’ or ‘halal’ by purchasing.

At the moment, if you go to a big football match (where literally hundreds of thousands of sandwiches, burgers, wraps etc are consumed…all those poor animals) or a big music gig, or a big West End musical e.g. you are usually now AUTOMATICALLY eating ‘kosher’ and ‘halal’ – whether you like it or not!

In order to appease a ‘religious’ minority, (and cover all their sales bases in the case of the sellers,) the majority of secular meat-eaters are now buying this unlabelled food, which the majority assume has gone through a humane slaughter process (if there is ever truly such a thing) and is even free-range or organic…It has NOT – and this is not OK!

RAFAH REFUGEE CAMP, GAZA STRIP – DECEMBER 30: Palestinian men celebrate over slaughtered cow on the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha on December 30, 2006, in the Rafah Refugee Camp, Gaza Strip. The Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice), falls on the tenth day of Zulhijjah, the final month of the Muslim year. To celebrate Muslims slaughter sheep, goats, cows and camels to commemorate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son for God. The meat will then be distributed to the needy. ‘Religious’ slaughter is not monitored in the same way as non-religious slaughter is. They are not prosecutable under the Animal Welfare Act. There is very, very little accountability. Animals are going through living HELL at these so-called ‘religious’ hands.

We have to speak out and beg as many others to as well.

I wish all animal killing and flesh eating were a thing of the grim and distant past, but while it continues, the animals need as much protection as they can get (pathetic as that protection is) – and our purchases have a massive impact on their experience.

We need to demand that the Government makes food labeling compulsory, so that only the tiniest minority feel ‘religiously’ obliged to buy the rotten stuff and others are not forced to, thus giving our 60 billion annually slaughtered animals the chance at least of a relatively quick death. It’s the least we can do. We really do owe them this.
 .
Silence is complicity…It’s so horrendous and PC is a real block in the way of any proper discussion about ethics/morality. I do wish people could learn to separate the issue of race from ethics…We need to be allowed to make valid criticisms (women’s rights, gay rights, animal rights) and be able to present these without them being perceived or labelled as a blanket attack…No one should be immune from scrutiny.

There’s nothing “kosher” about killing, all killing is “haram” not “halal”. We need new foundations based on the Golden and Silver rules, cross- cultures, and inclusive of all beings.

Many thanks for listening.

With love, love, love for all beings and yourselves
Heidi

    1. Please sign these petitions…and also share them on Facebook, twitter and by email to friends and family so that they can support them too. The sooner we raise public awareness on these issues and have debates on them the better.
