BLACK BLOC IS NOBODY is a medium-length (53 minutes) documentary, directed and edited by filmmaker Romulo Cyríaco, which talks about the current political situation of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil through the questions raised by the “black bloc tactics”, its way of working, its reasons, and the reactions of people, government and media towards its existence. The documentary is constructed by testimonies of black bloc tactics practitioners, as well as activists, media-activists and researchers, who contextualize the appearance of the tactics in the recent scenario and in the more profound history of the city and the country, with its social, political and economical tensions. Besides the testimonies and images borrowed from the media-activists, the film presents a long sequence of original images – of a more observational approach – about the behavior and posture of the black bloc activists in two huge protests made in downtown Rio in 2013.
All the images and testimonies of the film were filmed between October and December 2013, and it was finished in April 2015, being licenced by Canal Brasil for exhibitions between June 2015 and the year of 2018.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Romulo Cyríaco is director, screenwriter and editor of film and video, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Director of three short-lenght fictions films. In 2013 he released his short-length documentary I, AN AMARILDO, showed until 2016 by Canal Brasil. Romulo is also a film theory professor at Escola de Cinema Darcy Ribeiro, besides being a film critic and a writer, having published, in 2010, a short story book. Recently, he releases his medium-length documentary BLACK BLOC IS NOBODY, and works in a full-length fiction film’s script, besides documentary and film exhibition projects.
