NOTE: This poem is made up of genuine, British place names.

In the UK alone:

  • More than 1 billion land animals (excluding fish and shellfish) lose their lives to the ‘meat’ industry every year.
  • 4 million animals die as a result of “vivisection” annually.
  • 35 million pheasants and red-legged partridges are released into their air, for shooting and killing every ‘season’.
  • 700, 000 grouse are shot down additionally.
  • Over 16,000 wild animals are killed during illegal hunts, year on year. (This does not include the figure for stags.)
  • Globally, over 75 million animals (and 1 billion rabbits on top of that) are killed for their fur alone, every year – a significant percentage of which is imported into the UK for our ‘fashion’ industry.
