Highway Signs

The pyramid-head highway signs
stand at ease. They’ve burrowed and hollowed
an eternity crypt into darkness for darkness.
Near the horizon bloodline streams. Noise
deafens noise.

‘Hi’, I pass their blank faces. Speed takes us
into the neighborhood of the X.
The highway signs beam in our headlights.
Brief was their delight,
and so are ours, night’s, day’s.
