2. Wow I think I live in a different psychedelic universe to who ever put this together which just seems to be mainstream rock. In addition to Mr Loop’s perceptive comment, what no Move (‘Yellow Rainbow’), only one Byrds track, no Quicksilver (‘Calvary’, ‘The Fool’ or ‘Who do you Love’ for starters?), Dantalion’s Chariot ‘Mad man’, nothing from UK Kaleidoscope, and criminally no entry for either ‘Children of the Sun’ or ‘I can take you to the sun’ by the Misunderstood (the latter possibly a contender for no 1). Mad River’s ‘Amphetamine Gazelle’? and no Amon Duul II – ‘Sandoz in the Rain’ or something from ‘Phallus Dei’, ‘Dance of the Lemmings’, ‘Yeti’ or even ‘Wolf City’?
   and there has been some fine psychedelia subsequently – Television’s mighty ‘Marquee Moon’ or the Vogue’s ‘Frozen Seas of Io’ and this equals anything on the chart the Rain Parade’s ‘Kaleidoscope’

3. Just the kind of astute and expertly well informed comments we expect from IT readers! It is indeed more of a Psychedelia for beginners, but posted as a jolly festive antidote to the end of year “best songs of 2017” charts we see, which might leave some wondering what happened to good mainstream rock music. This is just a small fraction of the incredible musical output of that time. A more comprehensive collection of off the grid psychedelic music you mention would be brilliant.
