When Is A Million Not Enough?

Jack Broadbent

It’s no secret hundreds of talented musicians populate the perpetually dynamic English underground scene. One slightly less know secret currently  striving for mainstream attention and the elusive recording contract is busking slide guitarist Jack Broadbent. Whilst Jack’s dream may seem a common fantasy to most bedroom axemen, Mr Broadbent might have every reason to believe his has the chance of turning into a reality. With two of his internet videos receiving more than a million hits, and Jess Glynne’s recent number one track ‘Hold My Hand’ reaching the top of the UK charts in March 2015 after selling 64,000 units and only streaming 2,500 times, one may have thought Jack would have found a publisher. Sadly this is not the case.
The guitarist was philosophical  about his business, laughing, ‘I’ll just keep doing my thing. People seem to love it and all I want to do is play. So as far as I’m concerned everything’s cool. As far as the business side of things goes we’ll have to see what happens. I’m doing loads of gigs over the summer so hopefully a million more people will get to see me. In the end I’m just playing for myself and the people in the audience. That’s what I’ve always done and I can’t see any reason to change. All I want to do is rock and roll.’
If you want to be one of the millions of people to see Jack do his thing take your pick from the links below or see him playing live at the Zwarte Cross Festival, Holland 25th/26th July and at Manana Manana Festival Holland 28th-30th August.
