After nine years
now you are truly gone
reversed out of my life
like
the ass end of a pantomime
horse
like me
always gets a laugh
fallen like the
crumpled angel wings
on my lawn
Icarus snagged on the power line
a smouldering dragon
costume
on the balcony
where once hand in hand
we owned the world
still
trembling from lovemaking
like continents
we were joined
with only consenting ocean
between us
as if together we were
the paradise
of One.
the rarest denominator
an unblemished gemstone
now with open arms I bale up
the darkness
become a verse of light
and tutor the silence
in song
so as to feel less alone
Why?
for a better outcome than
the one you left
shards of memory embedded
deep within the soul
the ever open wound
orchestrates the pain
the slow clinch of ice around
the heart
uproots a sigh
and
discards a love
beside
the flowering axe
of separation.
