If it weren’t for poetry, we would
Essentially huddle behind wooden
Desks all day, clinging to caffeine,
Wondering what’s for lunch.
There would be no bronze leaf
In the street would be street noise
And fleece from scattered pillow
Cases.
 
B.
If it weren’t for poetry we would   essentially build towers brick by   brick in
effort to reach the highest
 
cloud, dialing on the phone. There   would be no red moon in the sea  would
be water and sometimes
 
Fish.

IF IT WEREN’T FOR POETRY WE WOULD ESSENTIALLY EAT AND
SLEEP   AND SHOWER AND SPEAK ON THE PHONE. ABOUT TEXT
MESSAGING. OR FACEBOOK. IF IT WEREN’T FOR POETRY, THERE
WOULD BE NO
