Difficult times, with war in Europe and now in the Middle East, require a reset of rights and responsibilities in our society.
Those aged between 16 and 25 years old, whether they receive Universal Credit (£316.98 from 1st April 2026) or not, will be required to register for military service. Those accepted will receive approximately £27,000 p.a. Those refused, due to fitness concerns, may be required to work for the military from home or designated places, with an uplift to present benefits.
Further enabling legislation will shortly be presented to parliament for other age groups.
All households will be required to ensure that they have at least a seven-day supply of essential food and water as already proposed in Sweden and other Baltic nations.
These include foods easy to store, in cans or sealed packages, high in fat and protein such as dried fish and meats, flour, freeze-dried meals, powdered milk, chocolate and bottled water.
Water supplies are essential. Consider springs, streams, ponds and water butts. Ensure availability of all other essential household supplies and medicines.
Cyber-war campaigns: may prevent the use of internet banking and the buying and selling of goods. The government suggests keeping cash, with a one-month supply kept by each household.
HS2 tunnels and war shelters: they are already built.
Northolt tunnel is 8.4 miles (13.5km) long, beneath Hillingdon and Ealing. It will provide for the shelter of up to one million essential government officials and provisions.
The Chiltern tunnel is 10 miles (16km) long beneath the Chiltern Hills. A national lottery for the shelter of up to a further two million people will shortly take place.
Coal: accessible mining and burning will be temporarily allowed.
Travel: Consider the purchase of a bicycle, ensure advance payment of public transport season tickets, and renew any bus, train and tube passes.
Internet failure: subsidies will be provided to allow the building of ten-thousand pigeon lofts to ensure effective communications.
