DRIVING AROUND TOWN

D’s at the wheel
co’s i can’t drive
I’m checking out the feet
of a girl in sandals
a pedestrian a PEDESTRIAN
& we stop at a zebra
& the girl crosses
which is a result
my eyes behind shades
the sun beats & burns & batters
the parched town
& comes back off the sea
in amber shrapnel
& the tourists waddle pinkly
or most of them do
our car our CAR
first one i’ve ever owned
or part owned
& we in it
me & my lovely woman
the mountains are friendlier
the sea is kinder
clink of bottles behind
& the humming sun
& us in the exhaust fumes
& our new fun
