FATHER’S DAY

My Mother was a Bluebell Girl
My Dad was a Pantomime Dame
By the first decade of the last century
He’d achieved a degree of fame
As an acrobatic comedian
In the last days of the Music Hall
He became Godfather in 1908
To the (later to be famous) Max Wall

Of many highlights on the stage
My Mother also had her share
Working with Josephine Baker
At the 1930s Folies Bergere

She was born in 1916
He in 1884
They met in Germany in 1949
On an E.N.S.A. theatrical tour
Well
They hit it off and decided
That
The marital knot they’d splice
And
I rocked up in ’52

My Dad’s
Last throw of the dice
