I have been asked to be a poet
Thoughtful on bigger purpose
Then serve the world at my grace’s end
If it were America it would have been
A place of paradise and burnt out notions
I would have given my life to magic
And sorcery of flaming kind
The fear in my throat lives through
I found your image in my alliance
The garden of my streets bolts through
I learn and relearn my relationship with faith
It streaks your mantra through my veins
Worship this country, they said
So I look through every page that I have read
I found here omnipresent of your zeal
A trick to get what you want
Conjuring my mother’s love through my womb
They said it harder before
Mend your ways, before you jump in your milky kindness
A betrothed queen I was of your serpentine dreams
Look for me in the pages of your honeymoon.
