it’s only a paper moon

                          after Louis Armstrong

at Tate
i stand in front of a
cardboard sea
where
Kandinsky’s gouache
leaks
asides my mother’s face

a crackle
of seeds
peck
the wind in Gaza

today Andy bends
again the
stars fell on
Alabama
for
his daughter
who cries
with open palms

no radiation
no war
just a field of white
