WALKING THE WALK

‘Friends,’ says Elon, ‘let’s make cruelty fun,

let’s watch suffering with a grin,

let’s split our sides as thousands die

and let’s not hold our laughter in

as immigration policies bite

and deportation tears families apart.

Let’s snigger as famine and disease rampage

because we’ve withdrawn foreign aid

and does it matter, as long as we are entertained?

So, let’s hold a laugh-in as we deprive

our children of a balanced education,

let’s raise a crazy toast to poverty and deprivation,

let’s giggle when women die from botched abortions,

let’s just fall about when families can’t eat

because we’ve thrown them out of work.

‘And whatever we do,’ says Elon,

waving a chainsaw, surrounded by men

with guns ‘let’s make it FUN!’

    1. A great poem, Liz. Hit the nail on the head, as you usually do!
