Yggdrasil

I haven’t been to my memory
for a long time, and she sits by
her open window on the eastside wall
ground floor of the hospice
and tries to remember who were
supposed to visit her, and fail to recall
the details of my face if at all.

This morning I dial the establishment,
cut the call before the desk asks me
if I want to talk with my reminisce, step
into the garden because it is a Sunday,
toddle toward the ash tree, a rarity
in this land, and ask it about the nine
worlds of the myth.
