Punch and Judy, Demons, Folk Tales

Daemons

I’m going to sleep on this bed where all my dreams are made
Your muffled words heard through the door, my daemons named
I hurt inside, scattered, tried to judge which way the wind blows

I was right. I was fair. Or was I?  Make amends…  Then I fade
Back to my slumber.  Vignettes appeared in pictures, framed
Ghosts, youth re-lived, those seaside Punch and Judy shows

I start, awake. Is this me?  Reflect again.  Is this the bed I’ve laid?
The morning sunlight warmed me, banished tears, calm reclaimed
We walked & talked; you untied my fears, their ribbons & bows

Notes:

Punch and Judy, Demons, Folk Tales

The Punch and Judy Shows are a simplified mirror of our existential fears, like the stories of Hans Christian Andersen and the collection(s) of folk tales by the Brothers Grimm.  A magnificent way of interpreting the zeitgeist, the spirit of the time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimon  (or Daemon). Any spirit, good or bad, within each of us. Halfway between god(s) and man. Our soul, desires, appearances, fears.
