Whatever Comfort

The president hides inside a food catering container in Ankara,

Turkey.  His staff and reporters serving as human decoys

in the plane the president exits.  I don’t worry about anything,

to be honest, says the president. You know my attitude?

Whatever!  ICE will spend twenty million dollars to purchase

gloves that deliver electric shocks.  The discomfort associated

with the stimulation is usually effective in bringing individuals

into compliance in less than three seconds, says the manufacturer,

and leaves no burns, marks, or scars.  Whatever.  The Danube River

drops so low German warships from WWII can now be seen.

Still armed with explosives.  Along the Kishwaukee River, I find

a turtle shell pounded by someone into a flat plate not suitable

for dining on.  Whatever.  When the president hid in the food catering

container, did he munch on the bag of pretzels or the stroopwafel?

Migrant children who arrive in the U.S. without a parent must now

appear in court without a lawyer.  Even if they cannot speak English.

Even if too young to understand.  Even if . . . whatever.  At the Denver

International Airport, Xeli, a therapy cat, comforts the distressed.

I lie awake in bed at night, listening to the sound of the Purr Comfort

download cat, purring without rest.  The president instructs the Justice

Department to again pursue criminal charges against the man

who had all charges dropped for daring to touch the president’s

unraveling swimming-pool blue lining in the algae-riddled

Reflection Pool.  Now it reflects only fencing and armed National

Guard.  I repeat the president’s Buddha mantra to release all fear

and anger.  I don’t worry about anything, to be honest.  Whatever!
