Loving,  Hurting

Some clichés he hates in the stories
surprise him in life. “So it is
true!” He’ll think aloud, still inside
the soundproof chamber of his mind.
For example, say, the time she
kissed his red, and throbbing
contusion, he, to his surprise, thought,
“Oh, for this I may get hurt again
and again.”
He recived Many blows ever since.

She imagines him as a ship
and herself as a strait
between two warring countries.
when he sails past, not unhurt,
but successful nonetheless,
she stares at the fog’s curtains,
his absence.
