BIRD & SEED

Something smells good, I remarked
as I entered what we like to call
the lounge. That’ll be my new
vaginal deodorant, said Pansy.
It’s much stronger than I expected.
I think she means “deterrent”,
not “deodorant”, said Father O’Crikey.
I was in that area earlier
and I passed out – overcome by the fumes.
Very concerned, I checked in
on our canary in its cage: it was looking
a tad shaky, but I gave her some seed
and she perked up, & even attempted
a little song, for she knows
we enjoy to hear her little songs.
Ah, said Father O’Crikey, there’s nowt
like a dose of seed to perk a birdie up.
I’m going out, said Pansy. And I might
not come back. Which way is it to Africa,
the darkest of all the continents?
