WASPS/ THE WORLD ON FIRE

You asked

” What is it with wasps in August?”

I had to smile

A hundred philosophers just

got laid off

By a question as delicious

as

a tablespoon of homemade

plum jam.

THE WORLD ON FIRE

Nothing grows….

All dry & dead

The land cries out for water

As if an unseen hand

Like a Saviour could

Pass down a bowl brimming

Silver and

Spilling a liquid reprieve

In a punishing sunlight

Down

To quench burnt grass and baked earth

And

Slake the thirst of a World on fire.
