Blue Drift

The lovely earth sobbing out the blackbird’s song
   – Friedricke Mayröcker transl. Nicola Thomas

From season to home
                 a shift south
the needle being threaded in one
swift movement

Repair the sleep moonlit room
patterned paper static bird
ghostly lane noise

shadow dawn’s approach
the borderland awaiting
the sky burst        those bands
above the line

Idea of daylight against the pull
of slow approach

address experience      dim thought
await movement & sensory addition
smoothness of transition

simple drift       lack of strength
to compete with inscription
& a place in the emptiness

unfurling of the green

emergence of the blue
