later on the clouds dispersed
silently (the way they do) revealing
the mountain-tops though visible
only as silhouettes
against the star-light
proof if it were needed that
they were there all along as
we picked our way gently rising
among the stones along the river-bank
the hills on both sides invisible
in the fog
