Kissing the grass

You don’t know why the words meant so much to you

But it has started a fire in your heart

And in your mind

And in your hands

And in your shoes

Like all the various loves in your lifetime

From a light kiss

From a one night stand

From a fuck buddy

To a long term relationship

Right where we are

The greatest thing people do is judge and ridicule and reject

But you take solace in the fact

That you and the great sky know the real truth

And you and it are happy with that

And when the time comes for the final sleep

All that pain you endured will cease to exist

And you will look like a content rose hunched over on a light spring day

Kissing the very grass that gave you what we call

Life
