Marcus Aurelius Space Program

,

Follow the stars in their Way
Accompany them on their course
Unperturbed
To sense the universe entire   –
Aeons that precede   –   infinity that follows

Allow this interstellar ‘Water Wheel’
To serve you as a series
Of filters purifying to a mist
Thoughts that may be holding you enmeshed   –

Day’s superfluous failings
Errors of disappointment
Cumulative-pervasive
Magnified beyond their human scale
Until they form a caste upon the eye
Refracting regular vision   –

Rinse your vision clean
When evening softens the sky
Setting your gaze on the stars   –
Then take yourself to space

Take space for yourself at last
Open to the higher heavens’ regions   –
Whose astronauts expressed
On seeing planet earth from outer space
‘A wake-up call of calm exhilaration’
