FINAL TOUCH

In Memory of my Father

Be gentle….
Final touch
Climb up toward
The End?
Rise above words
Ignore faces bobbing
Above you.
Speaking sentences
Coated with treacle
Bathed in tears
Dripping down
As all you wish
Is a life finalised
Like a soft switch flipped
Slowly off
As outside rain
Taps
Taps
Keeps time slower
And slower
On a window pane
Light inverts and never
Returns
A life gone
Ended.
As people disappear
And eyelids like heavy
Stage curtains
Fall one last time.
Trapping in darkness forever.

That final touch.
