GOOD RIDDANCE

Good riddance to the red Boris Johnson. A man incapable of telling the truth, who lied his way to the top all so he could arm, enable, and provide diplomatic and legal cover for a genocide. Beholden to corporate interests and the bigoted whims of the billionaire-owned press, he targeted the sick, disabled and marginalised, courted the far-right and demonised refugees, and gave the top ambassador job to a billionaire paedophile’s best mate.
He was never more than 2 metres away from a British flag while steadfastly advancing US and Israeli foreign policy goals at the detriment to everything else. He was the dictionary definition of an empty suit, and even the suit was a freebie, filled with wish-lists of corporate lobbyists, Atlanticists, Zionists and Labour Right cranks (who are all of the above).

I painted the below billboard poster (and photographed it being demolished) after Starmer announced his plans to continue the Tories war on the sick and disabled by restricting disability benefits (known as Personal Independence Payments (PIP)) and increasing the state and social harassment of those who need them. This came after Rachel Reeves scrapped plans to close the tax loopholes on the super-rich who spend their time abroad for tax reasons after “after listening to the concerns that have been raised by the non-dom community” (genuine quote!)
Starmer took a country desperate for change and steered it back to the cruelty of austerity, blaming and punishing the people least responsible for the state of the country while defending the interests of those who have been looting it with glee through the last 47 years of Thatcherite cross-party consensus.
And don’t expect it go get any better with Burnham, as the (actually good) FT journalist Stephen Smith said on Twitter “[Burnham] is getting this coronation because everyone with genuine power knows he’ll be continuity Starmer with some actual politician skills. If there was any danger of him being any good such as introducing genuinely progressive policy, all hell would be breaking loose right now”.
Don’t get fooled again.
I’ve posted most of the Labour-related art and graphics I made over the last four years on my website.

FREE THE FILTON FOUR

Home Office ads on the Overground announcing some of the dystopian new rules that have been brought to bear against the #Filton25, now the Filton Four, who are being sentenced as terrorists on Friday, after being convicted by a jury on the charge of criminal damage. The jury were not allowed to know that this additional, and unjustified terror charge would be added post-trial, and the press were banned from reporting on it.
This government’s assault on civil liberties, the right to protest and free speech are truly, terrifyingly out of control, most starkly illustrated by how they have handled the Filton Palestine Action case.
Authoritarianism isn’t something that’s in danger of happening in the UK, it’s here right now, shepherded by a government that many still consider, incorrectly, to be ‘left wing’. And a government that will hand these new expanded powers for British state to crush dissent onto a Reform government it is holding the door open for.
A sane country would be jailing those committing, aiding, and abetting genocide, not those who oppose it.
More details about the campaign to Free the Filton Four on this website.
You can download print files of the posters from my blog.

ANTI-SLOP PATCHES

I’ve got some new patches in my shop. The anti-AI Slop patches (above) come with iron-on backing, but I now also have some velcro-backed Hell patches, as well as a restock of the old Hell patches.
I also got these Spelling Mistakes Cost Lives logo enamel badges made up, and because I have free will I made them glow in the dark.
I’m also down to the last dozen or so AI Slop t-shirts, some sizes will sell out very soon.
Thanks as always to everyone who supports my work through my shop. It literally keeps the lights on.

A GAME OF BEING BLOWN IN TWO HALVES

You’ve probably seen the new army recruitment ads taking advantage of young people’s enthusiasm for the world cup (right). They reminded me of this anti-recruitment ad I made in 2010 (installed on the tube more recently (above).
The UK is the only country in Europe and Nato that still recruits 16 year old children into its armed forces. Kids can even start the application process at just 15 year and 7 months. Ad campaigns like this should be seen in that context.

Former head of Army recruitment strategy Colonel David Allfrey said, “[It] takes a 10-year span. It starts with a seven-year-old boy seeing a parachutist at an air-show and thinking, “That looks great!” From then the army is trying to build interest by drip, drip, drip.”
The poorest UK regions supply large numbers of these child recruits. The army says it looks to the youngest recruits to make up shortfalls in the infantry, by far the most dangerous part of the military. (Infantry fatality rate in Afghanistan was seven times higher than rest of the military.)
A study (linked here) by human rights groups Forces Watch and Child Soldiers International in 2013 found that soldiers who enlisted at 16 and completed training were twice as likely to die in Afghanistan as those who enlisted aged 18 or above. That’s because the youngest recruits are often enlisted into front-line combat roles like infantry, tanks or artillery. In fact, the very youngest recruits – aged between 16 and 16 years, 3 months, are only allowed to join combat roles.
Those child recruits are not supposed to be sent to war until they reach 18 (often on the day they turn 18). But that doesn’t always happen, and British children were mistakenly sent to war in Iraq and Afghanistan on multiple occasions.
In 2015 I wrote a series of short films with Veterans for Peace UK based on my Action Man: Battlefield Casualties toys, which addressed this issue. You can still watch them on youtube.

Football War is available in my shop as a print, postcard or as part of ‘my Join the Army’
anti-army recruitment leaflet.
MUSEUM OF HOMELESSNESS

The exhibition CRIMINAL at the Museum of Homelessness, which I have a few new pieces in has had a fantastic reaction and has now been extended until October. It was also featured in last week’s Big Issue edited by 10Foot (also one of the artists in the show).
Above is one of the poster/dioramas I made for the museum about the social murder massacre at Grenfell Tower which had its 9 year anniversary on the 14th June, still with no charges having been brought against any of the companies and individuals responsible.
