A Festival of Protests

I hate to elaborate this to you
albeit you do not seem to gather –
no longer we feel the shiver
in our spines; our knees
no longer wobble, become jelly.

Last night most of us lost
a few offsprings, perhaps in
the collective bad dreams. Here
are our noir hearts. We offer;
you may devour. Here we present
our paths, miles we shall walk;
you should build that wall you think
may stop us before the rally begins,
and even if you do we shall bleed, crawl, climb up and cross
its immovable entity.

Everyone is engaged in this never before protest. The rape and murder of a junior doctor in the R.G. Kar medical college began this protest impromptu and then it spread like fire. We demand not only the justice also an end of patriarchy. Durga Puja is nearing. The worship of the Goddess is the most vivid and psychedelic event in our city. It is worth of billions of dollars of business. Entire city is observing protest, and so the loss is huge this time. The State authority told us “To return to festivities” as if we can be ordered to do so.
