Alms

I cannot survive the past
It appears hauntingly
Every time I think I have
Dismissed it from my dreams
I don’t claim to have forgotten it
Only the rainstorm picks at my brains
And takes me to washed trees;
Forever in my mind these dreams-

They recant the past
I don’t
They tell me to look at the present
I can’t, I am a mere survivor
In dreams of the past

With a begging bowl
Asking for alms
