BLOOD & BULLETS

I do not want to watch the war.
The TV is not telling us anything
we do not know about violence,
death and torture, pain and hurt.

It may be cathartic for witnesses,
whose films they show, but there is
little context given, no discussion
of illegal occupation. I do not want

to see blood and bullets, the dying,
injured and those seriously wounded
or view corpses by the road, bodies
left in empty fields or blown-up cars.

It is all wrong, each another wrong
amongst so many wrongs. Violence
will never solve arguments over land
and territory, belonging and religion.

These games of soldiers and claims
of God-given rights are nauseating.
I am hungry for peace, co-existence,
not wars with bigger profit margins.
