Heathcote’s Birthday

.
.
Sad day
When we can’t wish
A wish for Heathcote
Who we wished
Would have lived
To a hundred and ninety
But whose life gave out
Long before any of his ideas died
Wish he could have made
This birthday
But we have his books
We have his voice
We have a light
That wasn’t there before
