in the night that gets lonely
I stumble to the goodbye notes
and stares at one side of things,
in the spark of my mind
thinking about chewing them.
curl around in brittle chill
in the crowd of ailing thoughts.
within a few hours returns
the half-moon
it’s moldy, a bit jagged at the edges
the night train rumbles in the mist
I sit and must
lay down my hands
like imploring before going to sleep.
