Seminal poet/playwright/polemicist Heathcote Williams’ new play KILLING KIT receives it’s first rehearsed reading at The Cockpit on Wednesday 12th February 2014 at 7pm.
Killing Kit details the extraordinary events leading to the murder of Christopher Marlowe, including the abuses and duplicity suffered by the writer at the hands of the State under Elizabeth I and the theatrical and literary betrayals he endured – not least Shakespearean plagiarism.
Williams’ first play for many years puts Marlowe at the very heart of Elizabethan England in a revelatory piece of dramatic literature; with language as visceral and illuminating as it’s ideas and approaches.
For all those with a passionate interest in literary theatre: we invite you to the first ever reading of a confronting new play and to re-examine the cultural history that informs us all.
