On the whisky…at our coming commemoration…Robbie Burns

Robert Burns’ Cottage, Alloway, South Ayrshire, Scotland
Robbie Burns Day – Sat, 25 Jan 2025

All saucy sitting around the table
We spread the tales of oor Rabbie
John Barleycorn gone to our head
& cranachan sweet sent us to bed

We heard of his lust for maidens
His forays across the Highlands
Wee kiddies & lassies left behind
He always said love is blind

The minister at kirk did not agree
“I’ll not bless what I canna see”
John Barleycorn gone to our head
& cranachan sweet sent us to bed

    1. Delightful ! Sounds like a fascinating foray north of the border !

    2. Such a great homage to Burns / Burns night – a wondeful descriptive scene full of humour and irony – and of course loved all the references to the Burns Supper traditional cuisine (wish I had been there!)
