SOME EPIGRAMS

1.

Of course I think my poems are brilliant
But I don’t mind if you think they are not
I am confident about my own genius
And equally assured that you are a bit of a clot

2.

I don’t know many poets thank Heavens
And the ones I do know I don’t really want to
Although there are some honourable exceptions
Those exceptions do not include you

3.

I do not want to be part of the avant-garde
They are not as avant as they think they are
I heard one of them read their poems once
It was awful so we left early and went to a bar

4.

The Poet Laureate has ignored the invitation
I sent him to come to tea
Not to reply is rather rude – Anyone would think
He wanted nothing to do with me

    1. Excellent. I have always thought about the things you said in these lines.
