Street Art Overground, Canal Underground and the Gay Village. All part of Manchester!

A kind of Photo Journal of the vibrant city apparently created on the Sixth Day!

Alan Dearling

I am still finding my way around the really rather wonderful city of Manchester. I’ve been doing this very much by intuition, walking up, down and round, and through the city’s Northern Quarter and beyond – very much through its underbelly. I like to create a new set of photo collages on each visit before repairing to appropriate hostelries, of which there are plenty!

These photos were taken during a couple of hours of random investigation. I love street art and even much of the detritus of back alleys and byways. It’s all in the contrasts, the humour and the slightly edgy character of much of the city-scapes. I will let the pictures tell their own stories. Stories of people and places that are ever-evolving in the Gay Village, along the Rochdale Canal and River Irwell, and in the bustling street-life.
