The Philosopher

a spindly child,
he sits in the darkness,
under the basement stairs,
along with spiders and bugs,
feeling his heart beat,
listening to his breathing,
wondering how he came to be,
the world a beautiful illusion,
existing outside of himself,
believing the material used in his creation,
not one of the elements of this earth,
a philosopher of ten,
pondering the concept of eternity.
