Theseus in the Labyrinth

The only difference
Between a hero and a fool

Is this   –   the why and wherefore
Of a culture grown pre-occupied with winning

Some say there is a sacred monster
Not entirely animal nor human

Like yourself maybe?
But who are ‘you’ but a ‘myth’ of masculinity

Ariadne holds the spaceship
Lifeline as you wander   –   is it entirely necessary

To betray her as collateral
Damage in your great heroic epic?

Spin like a spider alone on a thread
Call this map your country

We know you’ll take your time and ours
Bragging every skirmish of the journey
