Too Long At The Fair

Our nation is in debt
And who would credit it?

The Houses of Parliament
Might make a decent foxhole

As now indecently
It harbours sharks

One suitcase now contains
The whole of English culture

Warm-hearted people wasted
In a climate of wet blankets

Let the leaving party
Steal the soap and towels

They have a greater need
Attired as human forgeries

Age-old mould corrupts their merchandise
‘Smiles’ that rip the paint right off the walls

Water takes an age eroding stone
Dreams can overturn the age this evening.
