Value System

Self-examination goads me
to ford through
the lentic corridors of grief.
Self-centeredness of sorrow
generates heroic makeup.
Many sparkle in its scrutiny.

Is this why a popinjay
exhibits its mannerisms?
Assessing its act or attitude
requires no purposefulness.
Let us play down puffery.
A poindexter itches for our indulgence.
