the snow has begun to arrange itself
settling into the spaces
between the grass from a distance
a suggestion of whiteness
among the green
the weather forecast predicts
this will continue until late afternoon
the trains are still running and
hopefully the roads will remain passable
at least until you get here
I keep telling myself
there’s nothing to worry about
and all this time while I write
the snow keeps falling
soon it will cover everything
and by the time you arrive
there’ll be enough to build a snowman
although these days
we’re more more likely just
to sit inside and talk
