Today we are simply getting on with the job.
Our soils are degrading all the time but here
is an art deliberately engineered to repay
obsessive investigation. Let’s put some garlic
in the playing tonight, he said. What emerges
from this shattered dream? A sandstone quarry?
Dan has been hearing rumours. Underneath,
though, cracks are reappearing. In fertile soils
there should be enough plant nutrients to sustain
growth but unsurprisingly our behaviour is
changing & we need to find a different groove.
These are the new sounds of resistance, she said.
Militant & insistent, these are the sounds. Perhaps
it’s time for a bigger stage but we are capturing the
movement of a mind on the page & Sonny Rollins
has died. There is no sign yet of a change in the
weather but every decade or so we get a bumper
influx of these beautiful butterflies.
Gill San or Garamond? Which do you prefer?
Once again, we are having to dance around the
answers. Our numbers remain interesting but
here we have the invisible hand and here we
have all that is solid melts into air. We’re looking
here at a low-intensity ongoing form of civil war.
All the balls are up in the air & the opposition are
in denial. Decoration for its own sake, why not,
she said. Are we going to Mornington Crescent?
All About Eve or In a Lonely Place? It’s either the
sound of the sea or it’s the sound of car tyres on
gravel. Body parts are scattered across the area.
As authority crumbles the number of published
tracts & chapbooks increases. A range of opinion
is required or so it’s been said, he said. Once we
start talking about exclusion we are in deep trouble.
Eureka or There Will be Blood? I had it all, he said
& then I threw it all away. Here are the broken bones.
