Destruction came
When I showed the monster in myself,
Gave the sweat of fear,
Screamed and made you bruise my body.
Destruction came
When I flaunted other men to hurt,
Became like a problematic computer,
Refused to understand your truth search.
Destruction came
When with self-absorbed elation
I would not let you sleep,
Trying to draw you into my neurosis.
Destruction came
When we ceased laughter,
No longer held each other through the night,
And like a stranger I left you sleeping.
Destruction came,
With the slam of a door,
A taxi into darkness,
And the final goodbye that never was uttered.
