Methodological Implications

Has no position. What emerges from collaboration
is value itself, regardless of outcomes.

Pessimism is equally valuable to all and beholden
to probability over meaning;

none of us can ever know for sure because
we don’t entertain possibility.

Machines suggest we find it difficult to accept
that we have no idea what words mean,

exactly the kind of utter gibberish we find as
cultural expectations shape intelligence.

I want tricky objects like paintings and drawings,
not computer visions;

a single narrative just doesn’t seem plausible,
resists any attempt at refutation.

Two heads are better than one but knowledge
cannot be value-free or neutral,

is an information management system we use
to reinforce ideology.

Who owns these tools and encrypted data?
Scientists at the limitations of method,

following dreams and theories of consciousness
into a morass of bogus news stories.

Conscious mental states are determined solely
by tedious celebrity witticisms,

historians, critics and museum professionals.
Anyone there? I don’t think so.

Uprooted from reality, unintelligible memes
proliferate beneath a cloud-stacked sky

pasted together as a trans-historical collage
with illustrious genealogies

indistinguishable from deep-fakes and self-help
responses which fool us into thinking

the story is surprising. I have no explanation
for progress, am as confused as you;

gobsmacked despair is an appropriate response
to how badly it’s all turned out.
