Blanche Rigley was my grandmother. A concert pianist in fine halls and an ascending Wurlitzer organist to silent films in early cinemas. When I knew her as a boy we’d visit the local pub where she’d play songs on the in the corner piano whilst I watched everyone else (just men) play dominoes and smoke.
I called her Granchie, she called me Pippin.
