Summary of The Summer

An old man
made of newspaper pink
rocks his porch.
His room, a whistling kettle
one cool shade of darkness
hoards his wife in sepia prints.
You can see me –
a boy in perpetuity
with a stick to beat the bushes
until bees swarm to buzz me into a blur.
