There’s this Second Generation Irish bloke…

You go into a Pub, see someone you know
Vaguely with others you don’t,
Get beckoned over, take a pew
Introducing yourself and it’s,
“Isn’t that an Irish name.”
Followed by, “Explain
All this killing, what’s that all about?”
And you could but don’t anymore
Because they’re not after a history lesson,
Just want to yell at some Paddy
So put on your, I was born over here,
Baffled as you are routine: a chilly
Silence descends then someone pipes up,
“There’s this Irish bloke goes into a Pub…”
And as the teller runs on past his punchline
Every eye is focussed on you.
