What Is True: Found Poem. In memory of Henry Kissinger

It is not a matter of what is true that counts,
but a matter of what is perceived to be true.

The elderly are useless eaters.  Military men
are just dumb, stupid animals to be used

as pawns in foreign policy.  Democracy
is too important to leave up to the votes

of the people.  An expert is someone
who articulates the needs of those in power.

Over time, even two armed blind men
in a room can do enormous damage to each

other, not to speak of the room.  The illegal
we do immediately; the unconstitutional

takes a little longer.  Power is the ultimate
aphrodisiac.  Who controls the food supply

controls the people; who controls the energy
can control whole continents; who controls

money can control the world.  Covert action
should not be confused with missionary work.

Even a paranoid has some real enemies.  We
are all the President’s men.  I want to thank

you for stopping the applause; it is impossible
for me to look humble for any period of time.
