Why the War on Cannabis?

There’s much attention these days on medical marijuana. But what about all the other uses the cannabis plant can be put to? Hemp provides superior food, cloth, fuel, paper, and is a viable substitute for petroleum-made plastic and chemicals of all kinds…

These are not trivial uses and in fact they are at least as important as the plant’s medicinal qualities.

But with all the reporting about medical marijuana how much do you hear about these uses?

To understand the total media blackout on this subject, you have to go back to the 1930s and see why the plant was attacked in the first place and who did the attacking.

A few examples of the scope of the impact of the banning of cannabis:

1. Hemp seed milk is as nutritious as cow’s milk (and much healthier for people and planet.) Everywhere that people are malnourished, the situation could be turned around in just one growing season by this hardy, easy to grow plant. Instead, people, especially children, starve.

2. Hemp makes cloth that is superior to cotton, but hemp is banned, so an inferior fiber which consumes nearly half the pesticides in agriculture is used instead and as a result the soil and water are saturated with poisons.

3. Pressed hemp is actually stronger than steel (Henry Ford himself demonstrated this.) But hemp is banned so plastics and steel are used to make cars at a great cost the environment and consumers.
