A hundred years on
From the murder
Of Giacomo Matteotti
Europe is gearing up
For another dose of fascism
You can hear it in the music
See it in the fashions
The ignorance of the politics
And the braindead insularity
Do you really think the climate
Will stop at national borders
Respect the laws
On immigration? It’s not
The boats of desperate people
Who empty sewage in your rivers
One new Reichsmark
Is worth a billion old ones
Hitler is released from prison
Franz Kafka dies in Austria
A sanatorium, in Vienna

If you don’t mind I’d like to share it with friends… fellow poets
I know they will appreciate it.
I just said to Nick…I switched on the news Sky
Saw a report from the Mexican Border..
Boxcars and barb wire – cameraman hoping we get the analogy?
We do
My mother was brought to England as a baby before the Second World War.
No papers – some money for the family she was given into the care of…
I don’t even know her name
Where she came from, what happened to her/my family !
Now America elects a man who would forcibly ‘ deport ‘ 11 million men, women and children.
Thanks for your poem Steven
It says it all beautifully.
Malcolm.
